Sporting integrity

Fair play is not a slogan

The fair-play rules are an integral part of the federation's regulations and are a mandatory condition of membership and of taking part in any sporting event held under its aegis.

4 mandatory principles

What is expected of every participant

01

Observing the rules and regulations of table tennis approved by the federation.

02

Showing respect towards opponents, umpires, coaches and everyone else taking part.

03

Competing honestly, without prohibited methods or deception in pursuit of a win.

04

Zero tolerance of any form of corruption or reward for manipulating a sporting result.

The consequences of breaching it

Failing to observe these principles brings disciplinary sanctions — from disqualification through to expulsion from the federation and the loss of honest athlete status, with the name entered on the public list of sanctioned persons. In serious cases it may also bring criminal or administrative liability.

Why we insist on this

One of the federation's core aims, together with its partner sports organisations, is to promote the integrity of the athlete and fair play. To that end the federation runs educational programmes and information campaigns on preventing corruption in sport, in cooperation with the relevant international organisations.
