REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

On 22–23 March 2025 the Republic of Moldova table tennis championship (seniors) was held in the village of Avdarma (Gagauzia). The festive opening of the championship was attended by the mayor of Avdarma, Mr Kasîm Ivan.

The athletes of the Republic of Moldova competed in singles, women's doubles, men's doubles and mixed doubles. We were delighted to see the arrival of our athletes who play for clubs abroad — Vladislav Ursu (a competitor at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games; bronze medallist in the men's doubles at the 2024 European senior championships), Andrei Puțuntică, Evgenii Koșciug, Mihai Caminshii and Alexandra Chiriachova.

In the men's singles, Ursu Vladislav (Chisinau) became champion of the Republic of Moldova for 2025 with a final score of 4:1 against Puțuntică Andrei (Chisinau). Andrei could not defend his national title this year. Vlad won with confidence and proved his quality. In the match for the championship bronze, Caminshii Mihai (Ungheni) met our veteran Romanenko Igor (Bender). Mihai won confidently, 4:0, and took his place on the podium.

In this year's women's singles final, Merenco Camelia (Chisinau) and Chiriacova Alexandra (Dubăsari) met once again. In a painful match for Alexandra, Camelia led 3:1 in sets, after which Alexandra levelled the score,

Merenco Camelia won 4:3 and took the title of Republic of Moldova champion for the second year in a row. The bronze went back to Dubăsari with Ecaterina Sireac, who met Valeria Vieru (Bălți). Ecaterina played notably well against Valeria's difficult attacking game and closed the match out confidently, 4:0.

Our young champions — small in stature but big in promise — Balta Elizaveta of Dubăsari and Bucur Nicolae of Chisinau delighted us with their play and caused small sensations of their own. Balta Elizaveta beat the older and more experienced Prohorovici Andreea of Strașeni 3:1, and Bucur Nicolae of Chisinau gave the experienced veteran Romanenko Igor a worthy fight, losing 2:3.

The Republic of Moldova table tennis championship was held in a businesslike and friendly atmosphere. During the championship the athletes and coaches were given accommodation and good meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner provided by the federation.
