Republic of Moldova Championship
for girls and boys born 2013 and younger, “U-11”, 2024
On 8–9 June the Republic of Moldova Championship for girls and boys born 2013 and younger, “U-11”, 2024 was held. Almost 80 children gathered from all over the Republic of Moldova. The national championship was fiercely contested and served as a qualifying competition for the unofficial European championship “EUROMINICHAMP” for mini-cadets, to be held in Strasbourg, France, on 23–25 August.
The national U-11 championship was held in Bălți. Our young athletes played in three events — singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
In the boys' singles this year's champion was Bucur Nicolae (Chisinau), who beat Mițic Alex of Sângerei 3:1 in the final. In the semi-final Bucur Nicolae won a dramatic match against Fonariuc Denis of Ungheni, 3:2, having trailed 2:1 in sets and 8:4 in the score. In the match for bronze, Fonariuc Denis (Ungheni) met Croitoru Mihai (Strașeni). With a 3:0 win Fonariuc Denis took his place among the top three at the 2024 Republic of Moldova “U-11” Championship.
The girls' singles was no easier. The final brought together Prohorovici Andreea (Strașeni) and Chironda Nica (Bălți). Prohorovici took a fine win with some lovely play. The bronze went to Veleșcu Lina (Călărași), who played Cucereavaia Natalia (Bălți) in the third-place match.

2nd place – Fonariuc Denis – Stepan Luca (Ungheni)
3rd place – Ciubenco Alex – Borș Gheorghe (Chisinau)
Mixed doubles
1st place —Prohorovici Andreea (Strașeni) – Bucur Nicolae (Chisinau)
2nd place – Chironda Nica (Bălți) – Fonariuc Denis (Ungheni)
3rd place – Mițic Alex (Sângerei) – Cazac Iulia (Briceni)
