Republic of Moldova U-19 Championship

for girls and boys born 2005 and younger, “U-19”, 2024

On 20–21 April the Republic of Moldova Championship for girls and boys born 2005 and younger, “U-19”, 2024 was held. Almost 90 athletes gathered from all over the Republic of Moldova. The national championship was fiercely contested and served as a qualifying competition for the European Junior and Cadet Championships in Malmö, Sweden, in July.

The championship was held in the village of Avdarma (Gagauzia). The athletes played in three events — singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

In the boys' singles this year's champion was Spivacenco Gabriel (Chisinau), who met Moșneaga Matvei (Bălți) in the final. Gabriel won comfortably, 3:0. In the match for bronze, Cozma David (Comrat) met Iacubenco Artem (Bălți). David won 3:0.

The girls' singles was more spectacular and full of surprises. The final brought together Merenco Camelia (Chisinau) and Chiriacova Alexandra (Chisinau). Camelia won 3:2 and took the U-19 title for 2024.

The surprise of the championship was the win by Pulucciu Alina of Dubăsari over the more experienced Vieru Valeria of Bălți for the bronze. Alina won 3:2, in a level decider, and secured her place in the U-19 national squad. In the semi-final Alina had beaten Ecaterina Sireac of Dubăsari 3:2 (fifth at the European cadet championships in the team event). Ecaterina Sireac also took fourth place at the Republic of Moldova senior championship.

2nd place – Leu Veaceslav (Chisinau) – Mandatari Nichita (Ungheni)

3rd place – Iacubenco Artem – Moșneaga Matvei (Bălți)

Mixed doubles

1st place —Cozma David (Comrat) – Chiriacova Alexandra (Dubăsari)

2nd place – Spivacenco Gabriel – Merenco Camelia (Chisinau)

3rd place – Moșneaga Matvei – Delev Andrea (Bălți)
