The Moldovan Table Tennis Federation at “China Day”
On 13 June, in the fine setting of the “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt” park in Chisinau, the Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Moldova had the honour of taking part in the cultural event “China Day”, a celebration of friendship and of the exchange of values between our peoples.
China, recognised as the world leader in table tennis, inspires whole generations of players and followers of the sport. For the occasion the federation, led by its president Mr Oleg Șaric, helped set up a space given over to table tennis, offering everyone present the chance to pick up a bat and discover how fine the sport is.
We were particularly pleased that Her Excellency the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Moldova, Dong Zhihua, did not hesitate to play a few rallies, showing once again that sport brings people closer and builds bridges of friendship.
Mr Alexandr Petkov, mayor of Bălți and a supporter of the development of table tennis in the country's northern capital, was also present.
The public was treated to a real sporting show by members of the Republic of Moldova's national squad, Veniamin Dubrovin and Denis Terna, entrants at the World Table Tennis Championships in London, who gave a masterclass for everyone who loves the game.
We were glad, too, of the presence of many children from Specialised Sports School No. 1 in Bălți, who showed enthusiasm and a love of the sport.
Sport unites, inspires and makes friendships. Thank you to everyone who was with us at “China Day” and showed that table tennis has a fine and steadily growing community in the Republic of Moldova.
