NATIONAL TOURNAMENT IN MEMORY OF “THE VETERANS OF TABLE TENNIS IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA” 2025
On 18 January 2025 the National Tournament in memory of the veterans of table tennis in the Republic of Moldova 2025 was held.
Sixty-three table tennis veterans took part, women and men. Veterans from Romania, Germany and Israel attended the memorial tournament.
The National Tournament in memory of the veterans of table tennis in the Republic of Moldova was hosted by Avdarma (Gagauzia). At the festive opening we remembered the many veterans who are no longer with us, recalled the history of the veterans' movement in our country and honoured the memory of our veterans with a minute's silence.
The table tennis veterans of the Republic of Moldova, together with our guests from abroad, competed in four men's categories — 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ — and a single women's 40+ category.

The memorial table tennis tournament for the veterans of the Republic of Moldova was held in a fine and friendly atmosphere. The closing matches were thrilling and treated those present to some beautiful table tennis. There were surprises in the age categories too, particularly among the women.
During the tournament the veterans were given good food at breakfast and lunch at the expense of the Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Moldova. The champions and medallists received cups, medals, diplomas and cash prizes.
The community of table tennis veterans of the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Israel and Germany expresses its gratitude to the federation's president, Mr Sarandi Ion, and its secretary general, Mrs Elena Mocrousov, and to the Main Umpires' Commission, represented by national-category umpires Mrs Natalia Smirnova and Mrs Elena Barbu, for running the 2025 National Tournament in memory of the veterans of table tennis in the Republic of Moldova to a high standard, and looks forward to continued close cooperation in promoting the veterans' movement in table tennis in the Republic of Moldova.
