National tournament in memory of Mihail Polcanov
🏓 The National Tournament in memory of Mihail Polcanov brought together the generations of Moldovan table tennis!
On 9–10 May 2026, at the Top-Cup Academy in Chisinau, the national table tennis tournament in memory of Mihail Polcanov was held, bringing together athletes of every age and generation.
The tournament put adult athletes competing on their competitive rating at the same table as the youngest participants, in the 2016-and-younger age group. The atmosphere was that of a genuine sporting celebration, full of emotion, fair play and a love of table tennis.
Mihail Polcanov remains one of the emblematic figures of Moldovan table tennis of an earlier era — Master of Sport, Honoured Coach, and a man who over the years built a school of his own, forming and inspiring whole generations of fine athletes. He was a true champion and enthusiast of table tennis, and gave his life to the development of the sport in the Republic of Moldova.
The Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Moldova offers its sincere congratulations to all the participants, coaches, umpires, parents and organisers for their commitment, their discipline and their sportsmanship.
